Determination of size
A fter the selection of the appropriate band type according to the criteria, following conditions must be taken into consideration while determining the size of the waterstop band type to be used in the joint;

Concrete construction, thickness of concrete, width of joint, degree of motion (i.e expansion, contraction, settlement) of the joint, value of water pressure.

Waterstops having higher wall thickness among those selected shall be used at places where the ground motion is remarkable (especially where the earthquake risk exists), where the motions such as espansions, contraction, settlement and where water pressure is high.

It is advisable to take into account the below mentioned formulae while selecting the width cut lenght of the waterstop band.
